"Hello!

We are Phoebe and Tom and we love Cornerstone! We're both 24 and moved to Edinburgh around 3 years ago after finishing university in Sheffield. Tom studied mechanical engineering and I did a history degree.

Tom is currently a product design engineer at a pizza oven company. I’m anticipating that a question will have popped into your head as soon as you read that - the answer is a resounding yes, he does get to eat a lot of free pizza! He claims it is because he has to ‘test the ovens’ to make sure that they are functioning...

I'm currently looking for work in an international development/humanitarian sector.

In our free time you will probably catch us doing some form of exercise - hiking, running, climbing or playing tennis. We love anything active really, and are always keen to do something active if anyone who would like to join!

We both grew up in Christian families and feel very blessed to have known about God all of our lives. Naturally, we have learnt more about God and who he is through different experiences and stages in our own lives and we have both come to a personal faith in him. I feel that through every experience I learn something new about God, and appreciate a new aspect of his character. Being in Edinburgh, Tom and I have really enjoyed going out to the Highlands and seeing God’s creation. It reminds us of his majesty and power, and yet his tender care and provision for the world that he loves and his mercies which are new every morning. We are in a period of delighting in the knowledge of this and learning to reflect his care for people around us in an intentional way.

Cornerstone has been absolutely fabulous for us both. We moved from a big student church, which was great for a season. We are now really appreciating being part of a smaller church where you can get to know people on a deeper and more personal level. We have really seen God’s care and love lived out through the people in the church, and from day one felt so welcome! We also really appreciate that Cornerstone cares about the nations on its doorstep, and has a cross-cultural focus. This is something that Tom and I feel is really important for churches to consider and recognise the importance of the nations in God's kingdom. '
